Hi,

I am starting this for myself to catalogue some of my old metal CDs, shirts etc so I can keep track of what I have.

This is for anyone who happens to come across this.

I was born in 1974, 45 and almost 46 at the time of writing this.

I started liking rock/ metal around 1987/ 1988 I reckon. It probably started with Guns N Roses Paradise City or maybe Bonjovi Livin On A Prayer. I also remember Iron Maiden Can I Play With Madness and Metallica One being among the early metal I got into.

In those early years I was still at school and relied on gifts before getting a part time job in around 1990 and having a bit to spend.

I got friendly with some other people into metal and was introduced to other bands.

There was no internet to check bands out first and many times it was just a case or buying or mostly ordering and hoping they were good.

While I had purchased a few CDs and tapes upto 91 and most prolific buying period would have been 91 to 94.

I still bought a few after that and my last was Sentenced The Funeral Album.

Most of the albums I bought I had to order. We just a couple of shops that sold mainstream music and Iron Maiden if you were lucky. There was an independent shop that had a metal section and they could order anything thankfully.

It seems funny now, it’s easy to hear a band or a song any time. Back then I had no idea how some would sound and relied on buying and hoping or reading magazines then waiting sometimes months for the ordered cd to come in.

I must admit up to a couple of weeks ago I thought my CDs might be worth 2 or 3 pounds each and almost sold them off for that price a couple of years back at a car boot because we needed some space. But I am a hoarder and hate getting rid of my old stuff.

I was looking up something for my dad, the value of an old Beatles album when I came across the prices of some old metal albums so started going  through mine.

I have quite a few and wanted to make a record of them somewhere so here we are.
